Prevent .DS_Store litter on your network shares

Now that I started using Mac OSX I am copying files from network shares and find that my network shared windows folder is now littered with .DS_Store files. To prevent this run the following command in the Mac Terminal

defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true

You will have to restart the mac or logout and log back in for the changes to take effect.

Installing Hackintosh on my HP Probook 4530s

After numerous attempts I finally got Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2 working on my HP Probook 4530s

On how my experience went…well it was a huge rigmarole but now I know how to set this up in one hit!

Here are a few things about my HP Probook that I did not know:
1. There is no HD Display. I was selecting this for better display and was having display issues
2. The HDD on the laptop is a new 4k sector one. So direct boot always gives Error0

Here is the code to resolve issue 2. This must be run in the terminal when booting off the USB.
dd if=/Volumes/USB/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/disk0s2
where USB is the name of my USB stick.

Just to touch a note on making of the USB, I had to use my old iMac which weighs a ton and buy Mountain Lion from the App store before using iBoot to make the USB a Mac OSX Mountain Lion Boot Disk. I am not sure how I could have purchased the OS otherwise. Thanks to the $20 I spent to buy the old iMac a few years ago! I should say that Mac OSX is fun to use and is damn cheaper than buying Windows OS.
